Monday the 21st of May
Today was the first real day of the project! We had a really busy schedule and all the students and teacher were participating in project the whole day.
Everybody had to be at school at 08:30 in the morning. Most of the people already met from the day before, when we had drinks at the 'Wildschut' bar, but to some there were still some new faces in the group.
We started with putting on our ETs on the move t-shirts, so we really looked like a group. After that we were divided into groups and one of the ten Dutch students guided a few others people through the school buildings. Many people thought is was very big and modern, and they were very impressed by the building.
After the guide we went to a classroom were we all had to introduce each other to one another. The intention was that everybody brought three personal objects from their home that they would bring with them when they would migrate to another country. As if we were 'speed dating' we represented ourselves with our three objects to other students, and we kept rotating until we had met every student from the project. This took a while but it was very interesting and a good way to meet other people.
We had a short speech from the headmaster of het St. Ignatiusgymnasium and next we had to do our country presentations. This was in groups of four (a student from every country), with the aid of magazines everybody made of their country.
We had a great lunch in the school, and then it was time to go out for the city quest. And this again was in groups. The Ducht students prepared a route, and we had four hours to walk it so we could see a lot of Amsterdam.
The tour ended at an Italian restaurant were everybody had some pizza's of other Italian meals. It was a long day and everybody was tired of the tour, but we still had a boat trip for all the hosts and guests to finish off the day. The boat trip took us two hours and showed a lot of the canals in Amsterdam and other places. The students were chatting away and having fun.
When the program ended at 10pm, everybody was exhausted. Although some people went to get some drinks, most were too tired and went home.
Tomorrow we have to be at school early again, so we will need a good rest.
We will see what tomorrow will bring us...
Here are some pictures!
